AIMÉE PARROTT
Painting sits at the heart of Aimée Parrott’s practice which spans printing, drawing, sculpture and installation. The work explores notions of transformation, connectivity and exchange.
“Recent works explore the disjunction between internal sensations and exterior impressions with works that hover between gesture and form, suggesting hybridity, metamorphosis and a symbiotic blurring of boundaries.”
The Chameleon lamps are made of two overlapping paintings. When the lamp is off only the exterior layer is visible, however when illuminated both layers combine to form an arhythmic composite. In these works I continue to explore layering of colour and form, displaying sustained fascination with translucency.
Juno's Volute is a series of ten individual monotypes linked by process and form, overlaid with translucent washes of acrylic ink on glass.
Aimée Parrott studied at Royal Academy Schools and University College Falmouth. She has upcoming solo exhibitions at Mackintosh Lane and Haarlem Art Space. Recent exhibitions include Gaia’s Kidney at Letchworth Garden and Press 24 in Collaboration with Sid Motion Gallery.
