ROSIE MCGUINNESS

“As a textile print designer it's really satisfying to see a pattern or motif applied to things of use - clothing, furnishings, stationary, etc. Similarly, an artwork being hung in someone's home, among the day-to-day, means a lot.”

Working with gouache, inks, pencil, mono-printing, I often make a series of repeats and variations on a composition or subject - I like to pair and group works as collections.

The florals are drawn from plants local to my studio in Deptford, and link into my textile print design. I use relatively immediate materials and ways of working. Although the recent mono-types have meant working at a slightly slower and more considered pace, layering up the colours and elements.
